The process of registering a boat in the Croatian Register of Boats is becoming more detailed each year, giving owners greater security and a clearer overview of their obligations.
The reason for this increased detail is the growing number of boats — each one must be properly recorded, and the system ensures that both the owner and the vessel are easily reachable by the relevant authorities.

For the initial registration, in addition to the completed application form, the original purchase invoice is required. Therefore, don’t forget to request two certified copies of the original — one for yourself and one for the competent Port Authority.

Additionally, all boats built after the year 2000 must have a Declaration of Compliance, while older boats must possess a Svjedodžbu o gradnji or Construction Certificate or an equivalent document.

A new requirement in the process is that all foreign citizens must now provide a mooring contract or confirmation — without this document, registration is no longer possible.

If the boat was previously registered but has since been deleted from the register, you will also need the Deletion Decision as part of the documentation for the new first-time registration.

If the boat has an outboard engine, you need an Engine Power Declaration.
Furthermore, all documentation not written in Croatian must be translated and certified by a court interpreter.
